The Amsterdam Metro North-South Line is probably the most known infrastructure project that Bjorn has worked on as Project Controller. The project is known at the general public due through its complexity, the problems it caused to the city Amsterdam, the long delays and budget overrun. The total project was estimated to cost 1.4 billion Euro, but the total cost will most likely be around 3.1 billion Euro.
As Project Controller Bjorn was responsible for a small piece of the total budget, 27 million Euro to build the railway in the new tunnels and to connect the that railway to the existing railway infrastructure on the North and South side of Amsterdam. Together with the design and calculation department of VolkerRail Bjorn was responsible for the creation, structuring and maintenance of the rail budget and making sure that the (financial) Work In Progress balance stayed healthy.
